With Nasir and Cassandra, not only does Ms. North create memorable characters, but she gives a subtle nod to the folklore that gave us some of the most unforgettable stories of our time. The fairytale. Cassandra is the mythical princess trapped in a tower of her own making. Nasir is the besotted white knight determined to set her free and Leslie North is the orchestrator of this ethereal modern turn on a bewitching genre. It's impressive when an author tries something new and pulls it off. Hands down, my favorite of Ms. North's tales to date.
